Nurse
I want to be a nurse in the future, but I'm not quite sure what type. Nurses assist doctors and care for patients in hospitals and other health care settings. The job can be physically and emotionally demanding. For most nurses, it is $40,000 to $90,000 a year, while the typical earnings is $40,000 to $100,000 a year. You do make more by working overtime and also receive pay for being on call. There are also benefits like dental coverage, paid sick days and paid vacations. You are either employed in hospitals, nursing homes, walk-in clinics, schools and other medical settings. The education required is a post-secondary program in nursing, a bachelor's degree, or maybe a master's degree, if you want to be on a higher level. Then, you need registration with your provincial nursing association.
I am interested in being a nurse because I have always wanted to help people, and that is exactly what this job is. I am suitable for this career because I would like to help with other people's well-being and I think I can do fine with calming people who are scared or in pain. I am a little worried about the fact that you can get sick from helping other people, with infectious diseases, but I guess I'll know and use precaution.
